Cultivating Compassion – The Four Boundless Meditations
5 Week Course
Happiness, fulfilment, and a deep appreciation of life are not simply traits we are born with. They are qualities we can consciously cultivate and strengthen.
In this five-week meditation course, we explore the Four Boundless Meditations, drawing on the teachings of Zen Master Torei Enji, who regarded them as essential to the spiritual path. Each week we practise one of four profound meditations: Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Empathetic Joy, and Equanimity.
These practices gradually transform how we relate to ourselves and to others. They help loosen patterns such as envy, resentment, and comparison, and cultivate a greater sense of balance and goodwill in everyday life. As these qualities deepen, the way we experience ourselves and the world begins to change. Life can feel more open, connected, and quietly joyful.
The course is open both to complete beginners and to those who already have some experience of meditation and would like to deepen their practice.
The course runs over five weekly evening sessions of around 90 minutes and includes guided meditation, reflection, and practical ways of bringing compassion and awareness into everyday life. Depending on the format of each course, it may be offered either in person in Liverpool or online.
Dates for the next course will be announced in the future. If you’re interested in taking part, you’re welcome to make an enquiry using the button below.
