Zen Meditation for Energy and Insight

8 Week Course



This eight-week course explores Zen meditation more deeply, drawing on the Rinzai tradition. Each week, I’ll guide you through practices taught within the Rinzai Zen tradition, designed both to awaken insight and to strengthen vitality.

The structure comes from the great Zen Master Hakuin Zenji, who described practice as the “two wings of a bird.” One wing opens us to direct insight into the nature of reality. The other cultivates energy, balance, and resilience. Together, they support a life that is both awake and fully engaged.

The course is open both to complete beginners and to those who already have some experience of meditation and would like to deepen their practice.

The course runs over eight weekly evening sessions of around 90 minutes and includes guided meditation and practical ways of bringing Zen practice into everyday life. Depending on the format of each course, it may be offered either in person in Liverpool or online.
